Schweizer Meisterschaft Coursing 2013 in Lotzwil

Während rund herum alles ins Wasser gefallen ist, fand die CH-Coursing Meisterschaft statt. Und der Boden war Ideal; nicht zu Nass und nicht zu trocken.

Eine super Organisation und vor allem herzlichen Dank an die Bauern, die es möglich gemacht haben.

Trotz dem super Tag mit sonnigen Abschnitten und angenehmen Temperaturen verschlief Ami den 1. Lauf total. Den 2. konnte sie doch noch ein paar Punkte gut machen.

Kira zeigte zwei super Läufe und war hellwach:

While everything around it has fallen into water, the CH Coursing championship took place. And the ground was ideal, not too wet and not too dry.
A great organization, and especially thanks to the farmers who have made it possible.
Despite the great day with sunny spells and pleasant temperatures Ami slept through the first Running total. The second but they could make a few good points.
Kira showed two great runs and was wide awake:

Coursing Aarau/ CH

Am Pfingstmontag fuhr ich nach Aarau zum Coursing. Kira brauchte für die Schweizer Meisterschaft (SM) noch das zweite sauber gelaufene Coursing vor der SM, da leider Lotzwil Ende April abgesagt wurde.
Es war ideales Wetter, nicht zu warm, jedoch am Morgen für uns Zweibeiner zu kalt, durfte Kira in der Nationalen Grössenklasse starten. Sie zeigte zwei super Läufe, und war nachher schön müde.

2. Rang von 6 Hunden, Kira als einzige Hündin! Bravo!!!

On Whit Monday I drive to Aarau into the coursing. Kira needed for the Swiss Championship (SM) nor the second clean spilled coursing before the SM, there unfortunately was canceled Lotzwil end of April. 
It was perfect weather, not too hot, but in the morning for us biped too cold, Kira was allowed to start in the National Class Size. She showed two great runs, and was subsequently Tired beautiful.

2 Rank of 6 dogs, Kira as the only female! Bravo!

Welpenimpfungen

Neue WSAVA-Richtlinie für die Welpenimpfung!

Die WSAVA, World Small Animal Veterinary Association (Weltverband der Kleintierärzte), hat mit ihren neuen Richtlinien zur Welpenimpfung endlich ein Statement abgegeben, das dem aktuellen Stand der Wissenschaft entspricht, und damit offiziell die jährlichen Impfungen für unsinnig und gar schädlich erklärt!

Im Detail enthalten die Richtlinien folgende Aussagen:

1. Empfohlen wird eine Impfung gegen Staupe, Hepatitis und Parvovirose. In Ländern mit Tollwutvorkommen ist auch Tollwut eine empfohlene Impfung (Aufgrund der aktuellen Gesetzeslage ist in Österreich bzw. generell innerhalb der EU eine Tollwutimpfung absolute “Pflichtimpfung”, man denke an Fahrten ins Ausland, Besuche von Veranstaltungen usw.)

The WSAVA recommends that all puppies should have their initial vaccines against the core diseases, which are distemper, parvovirus and hepatitis (also called adenovirus). Note that in countries where canine rabies is endemic, rabies vaccination is also considered core, even when it is not required by law.

2. Die letzte Impfung sollte bei Welpen in einem Alter von 14-16 Wochen erfolgen, Stichwort maternale Antikörper.

The WSAVA also states that the last puppy vaccine against the core diseases should be given at 14-16 weeks of age. This is because, before this time, the mother passes immunity to her puppies, and this ‘maternal immunity’ can prevent the vaccine from working.

3. 98% aller in diesem Alter geimpften Welpen werden eine jahrelange, möglicherweise lebenslange Immunität aufweisen!

A high percentage (98%) of core puppy vaccines given between 14-16 weeks of age will provide immunity against parvovirus, distemper and adenovirus for many years, and probably for the life of the animal.

4. Um sicherzugehen, dass die Impfung “gegriffen” hat und der eigene Hund nicht unter den 2% ungeschützter Hunde ist, sollte eine Auffrischimpfung ein Jahr nach der letzten Impfung gegeben werden. Alternativ kann, siehe Punkt 6, eine Titerbestimmung durchgeführt werden (empfohlen).

All dogs should receive a first booster for core vaccines 12 months after completion of the primary vaccination course. The 12 month booster will ensure immunity for dogs that may not have adequately responded to the puppy vaccinations.

5. Empfohlen wird eine Auffrischimpfung nicht häufiger als alle 3 Jahre – allerdings ist die Impfung wirkungslos, wenn der Hund bereits immun ist!

The WSAVA states that we should vaccinate against the core diseases no more frequently than every three years. This is often taken to mean that we should vaccinate every three years – but this is not the case. If the dog is already immune to these three core diseases, re-vaccinating will not add any extra immunity.

6. Die WSAVA unterstützt die Nutzung von Titerbestimmungen, um unnötige Impfungen zu vermeiden. Hier wäre der Ansatz, die Welpen im Alter von 5-6 Wochen stichprobenartig (1-2 Welpen pro Wurf) zu testen und den idealen Impfzeitpunkt zu bestimmen, eine sinnvolle Maßnahme.

The WSAVA supports the use of titre testing. This is where a small sample of blood is taken from the dog and checked for the presence of circulating antibodies. The presence of circulating antibodies indicates that the dog is immune, and revaccination (with core vaccines) is not required. You may decide to titre test before giving the 12 month booster, as this may show that boosting is unnecessary.

7. Es sollten nur so wenige Impfungen wie möglich gegeben werden, um Nebenwirkungen zu vermeiden. Diese reichen von leichten Nebenwirkungen wie Fieber, Appetitlosigkeit bis hin zu schweren wie Epilepsie, Arthritis, Autoimmunhämolytischer Anämie und Allergien.

It is important to give as few vaccines as possible, whilst also ensuring that dogs are protected from life-threatening viral diseases. The WSAVA seeks to reduce the number of vaccines given as there is always a risk of adverse reactions with any vaccination. The risk of adverse reaction is considered small and the WSAVA asserts that the benefit of protecting your pet from life-threatening infections far outweighs the risk of adverse reaction – although any reaction to a vaccine that is not needed is unacceptable. The WSAVA has listed the types of reactions in its vaccine guidelines (which you can see on the link given above). They range from mild (such as fever, loss of appetite), through to severe (such as epilepsy, arthritis, autoimmune haemolytic anaemia, and allergic reactions). The most severe adverse effects can be life-threatening.

Impfungen gegen Leptospirose werden kritisch betrachtet und sollten nur gegeben werden, wenn ein echtes Risiko besteht – und das ist hierzulande nicht der Fall.
Zwingerhusten wird als harmlose Erkrankung eingestuft, für die eine Impfung nicht zwingend nötig ist. 

Clubmatch des WWCS in Versoix

Der diesjährige Clubmach fand in Versoix statt, nahe bei Genf. Also fuhr ich am Abend vorher zu meiner Familie nach Basel, dass ich wenigstens 1 1/5 Stunden fahrt "sparen" kann.
Nach über 10 Jahren fand ich Dank Navi den Rennplatz :-)
Am Vormittag durften Kira und Ami ihrem Hobby nachgehen bei je zwei Einzelläufen und am Nachmittag meinem Hobby, dem Ausstellen.
Auch Brooklyn durfte mitmachen.

Das Wetter war angenehm bis warm, entgegen dem beunruhigtem Wetterbericht von Regenschauern; kamen wir Trocken durch den Tag.

This year's club Mach took place in Versoix, near Geneva. So I went the night before to my family in Basel, that I may at least 1 1/5  hours ride. 
After over 10 years I found you because Navi race course :-) 
In the morning, Kira and Ami were allowed to pursue their hobby with two single runs in the afternoon and my hobby of Issue. Brooklyn is start too.
The weather was pleasant and warm, contrary to the distressed forecast of rain and we were dry through the day.

Int. Hundeausstellung St. Gallen / Int. Dogshow St. Gallen

Dieses Wochenende stand St. Gallen im Hundefieber. Die Int. Hundeausstellung fand in den Olma Hallen statt.

Beinahe vor der Haustüre, ist es fast Pflicht die Show zu besuchen.

Mit von der Partie waren Ami und Kira an beiden Tagen.

This weekend was St. Gallen fever in dogs. The Int. Dog show took place in the halls Olma.
Almost on the doorstep, it is almost mandatory to visit the show.
Along for the ride Ami and Kira were both days.
